Fab Foliage Friday

Neatly clipped boxwood orbs seem to roll across a path at Madoo, artist Robert Dash's garden in Sagaponack, NY. These sturdy spheres enliven this spot, and make the trunks of the gingko trees look like giant mallets in an ongoing game of croquet.

I love Buxus, have a few much smaller specimens I am training in my own garden.

The juxtaposition of the spheres and uprights always looks good, all through the year. Better still when frosted.

The spheres make a wonderful sight all year through. Maybe the trees are golf clubs. Fore! :D

Zoe-I love buxus too--such simple structure, and with enough good structure, you're free to run wild. My question is how do you get them so PERFECTLY spherical? Mine tend to look more like eggs, or gumdrops.

How playful that looks.

Hi Pam--this is a garden where capital letters are used to spell FUNl letters. It's full of whimsical stuff. He even paints the chairs several times a season to match whatever's in bloom.

Hello HHG-Yes the spheres are rolling through the garden all year long. Structure with a sense of humor. Might be right about the trees-play on through!
