This compelling trio of woodlanders shows just how many colors green can encompass, from the greeny green of the hydrangea (Hydrangea arborescens), to the burgundy-flushed green of purple wood spurge (Euphorbia amygdaloides 'Purpurea'), and on to the multi-colored foliage of Japanese painted fern (Athyrium niponicum 'Pictum'). Wonderful foliage. What a combination of colors! Looks so perfect, Steve. I've never like just-foliage-without flowers, but after looking at your photos I've changed my likes about them. I guess it's the way that you arrange them that makes them attractive.

Chandramouli--You hit the nail on the head, as they say. Yes, it's all about how you place the plants that makes a garden interesting. I think step one in gardening is learning how to grow what you like, step two is taking those plants and learning how to combine them in pleasing ways.
