We call it in my lacal dialect (Hausa) "Zaqami"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8170210501356136695.post-79257675048577374782014-07-10T17:58:36.471-04:002014-07-10T17:58:36.471-04:00This year the Bonfire caught my eye and I have had...This year the Bonfire caught my eye and I have had nothing but compliments. The compliments are her's not for me. I knew there should be seed pods but wasn't sure when.
Is it in September when the seeds are ready for saving? Because I see something similar on the plant but not shriveled as in your photo. How do you save them?
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07424175762536184842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8170210501356136695.post-19989133528780167102008-11-26T12:43:00.000-05:002008-11-26T12:43:00.000-05:00A fun and original post, Steve! The Bed of Nails has intrigued me since I first saw it! Thanks.

I was wondering about your gardening zone. I'm in five and don't recall my castor beans ever reaching to 15 feet. I was lucky to have them stretch to about seven one year. Do you have any saved seed you'd be willin to part with? And have you ever heard them called "mole bean" plants? It's told they deter moles.

Oh, and howdy Ms. Tina. ;~)

Again, this is one of those occasions that I don't quite remember how I got here, but I'm glad I clicked on through to arrive.TChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04005938156720914381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8170210501356136695.post-25825975396483221752008-10-29T18:16:00.000-04:002008-10-29T18:16:00.000-04:00Lovely pictures-all. Planted them in the shade in a moist area and they grew well. Until late summer. They are pitiful. You said they take time to grow into their potential? Is it normal they dry up and shrivel? I had four. Do you think they will come back and this is the normal progression of the plant? I hope so. I sure like the seedpod.tinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17415302577518111227noreply@blogger.com
